THE LOCATION

The Location

Our school is situated in the town Höhr-Grenzhausen at the heart of the "Potters' Country" (Kannenbäckerland) in the Westerwald region of Germany. The town itself boasts over 15 potteries offering traditional and modern ceramics made from local clay. The Westerwald is a beautiful region above the Rhine valley with many forests, lakes and small villages.

The town Koblenz on the Rhine and Mosel rivers is only 10 minutes away by car - a mixture of old and new buildings with many restaurants, shops and cafés. The Mosel valley is the area for wine lovers. The vines grow on the hills along the river and the numerous vintners in the pretty villages offer their wines for tasting. On the other side of the town is the Middle Rhine Valley, which has many castles and picturesque villages and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Cologne, Frankfurt and Frankfurt Hahn airports are all easily accessible (approx. 1 hour). The Intercity Express station at Montabaur is only 10 minutes away and the journey to Cologne with connections throughout Europe takes just 35 minutes.
